About the event
Cacao Ceremony Honoring the Ancestors
Between October 31st and November 2nd, many cultures across the world honor and remember their ancestors and deceased loved ones. Most of us are familiar with the Day of the Dead in Mexico or the Christian All Soul’s Day. It is time to offer our own version of this in community. We invite you to join us in this sacred, joyous occasion of honoring your own ancestors as well as the collective. We will begin with a cacao ceremony leading into our ancestral remembrance. The teaching essence of this plant medicine allows us to create an opportunity to move into our heart space and experience a deeper connection with self and the world around us. For centuries, Indigenous people have used Cacao, the teaching plant, to open their heart chakra and connect more deeply and fully to the earth, their community, and their ancestors.
Please bring a photo or object of a loved one you would like to honor for the altar. It can be anyone - family, friend, teacher. We will pay our respect and honor them by sharing some stories in sacred space and offer prayers for all who have passed.
Please note the following tips for a more comfortable experience:
*Please make sure you bring water for yourself to consume throughout the evening.
*Please dress comfortably; we suggest layers that can easily be removed or added.
*We suggest eating a light meal a few hours before the event and not coming in with a full tummy.
*After consuming cacao, we suggest grounding foods, such as rice, beans, meats, cheeses, or potatoes, when you get home.
You are not required to consume ceremonial cacao in order to participate in this event
